Schnucks Markets

The new St. Charles, MO Schnucks Markets grocery store borders Lindenwood University. The architect, BRR Architecture, designed the Schnucks to complement the brick facade found throughout the campus, but specified tilt-up thin brick as an energy-efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional brick. The exterior of the building features a custom blend of Metro Brick Schoolhouse Red, Main Street and Endicott Dark Ironspot with the wirecut finish. The tilt-up contractor, Fenix Construction, utilized the Versa-Brix® S and single use HIPS plastic formliners from Architectural Polymers to create the rich brick exterior.

Founded in 1939, the Schnucks family-owned grocery chain boasts nearly 100 grocery stores throughout Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Iowa. The Schnucks grocery store was deemed the anchor store for the Lindenwood Town Center shopping center that also features a post office, retail stores and restaurants. The post office, located next to the Schnucks, utilizes the same tilt-up construction with the same embedded thin brick and formliner textxure.
