Field of Dreams
Architectural Polymers helped transform the Field of Dreams stadium in Dyersville, Iowa, with monumental photo engraved precast concrete murals created using custom rubber form liners. Images supplied by the project architect were digitally transformed by the Architectural Polymers team into detailed 3D patterns and fabricated into 12 custom photo engraved rubber form liners, each approximately 10 feet wide by 33 feet tall. Six form liners were used to create the south wall mural and six were used for the west wall mural, featuring imagery of baseball players and the surrounding cornfields.
This project demonstrates the creative possibilities of photo engraved concrete form liners for architectural precast applications. The custom form liners allowed photographic imagery to be permanently reproduced as intricate concrete surface texture without relying on paint or applied graphics. The finished precast concrete murals create a dynamic visual experience as lighting and viewing angles change, revealing different levels of detail and dimension. From transforming an architect's original artwork to engineering large-scale form liners for precast production, Architectural Polymers combines advanced technology and more than 30 years of form liner experience to turn ambitious architectural concepts into durable concrete designs.
