The architect, Machado & Silvetti Associates, Inc., designed the new Arts Center as the formal entrance onto Dartmouth's campus. The formal lawn and hardscaped Arts Plaza is intended to engage the Hanover community and invite them to participate in the renewed focus on the arts at Dartmouth.

The facility earned LEED Gold certification with green building processes and materials as well as energy-efficient heating, cooling and lighting systems. The precaster, Northern Design Architectural Precast & Cast Stone, created the custom barn board features for both the interior and exterior of the building with high re-use elastomeric formliners from Architectural Polymers.
