MD Anderson Cancer Center

The Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center is a 332,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art oncology facility that blends advanced healthcare design with architectural expression. Delivered on an accelerated 18-month schedule, the project leveraged prefabrication and high-performance building systems to achieve precision, efficiency, and quality. The building’s exterior reflects a flowing, curvilinear design inspired by the nearby St. Johns River, translating organic movement into the façade through carefully detailed cladding and architectural concrete elements. Precast concrete components, enhanced with custom formliner applications, contribute to the building’s textured, contemporary aesthetic, introducing subtle rhythm and depth while maintaining durability and long-term performance.

Architectural formliners played a key role in elevating the exterior envelope, enabling the creation of refined surface textures that complement the building’s warm, non-institutional design intent. These textured concrete elements work in harmony with glass, aluminum cladding, and integrated shading systems to create a cohesive, human-centered environment. The result is a modern healthcare facility where architectural precast and formliner technology support both visual impact and functional performance, reinforcing the project’s mission to deliver a calming, patient-focused healing experience.
