Pinnacle National Development Center
The Pinnacle National Development Center in Kansas City, Kansas is an award-winning collaboration between a professional sports team, a national sports federation and a well-known sports medicine provider. The architect, Populous, worked with Enterprise Precast to develop a design that would portray “the movement of the body and ball” through the use of depth, color and texture.
Enterprise utilized custom formliners from Architectural Polymers along with acid etch and sand blast finishes to create the unique exterior façade.
The design team considered a multitude of options for the exterior façade of the 81,000 ft2 facility. Although precast concrete was not the initial choice of materials, it was ultimately specified for its design flexibility and its ability to meet timeline and budgetary constraints.
The Pinnacle National Development Center received a 2019 PCI Design Award in the Mixed-Use Building category. It is home to the Sporting Kansas City professional soccer team, the U.S. Soccer Association and the Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center.
