Thirlmere Rail Heritage Center

New South Wales Rail Transport Museum

Thirlmere, approximately 55 miles from Sidney, has been home to the volunteer-based New South Wales Rail Transport Museum (NSWRTM) and Thirlmere Rail Heritage Center since 1975. The historic town of Thirlmere showcases one of the largest rail heritage collections in Australia at Trainworks, which has grown to be their main tourist attraction.

In 2008 architects, Jackson Teece, were selected to design a new multi-function exhibition including a grand platform, exhibits, operational yard and activities space. The concept included an industrial-style building featuring a historic railway design with modern appeal and environmental sustainability.

The Thirlmere Rail Heritage Center Upgrade Project was sold by Keystone Acoustics. The precaster, Waeger Precast, utilized formliners fabricated by Architectural Polymers.
