Mercy Joplin Hospital
On May 22, 2011 an EF-5 tornado demolished St. John's Mercy Regional Medical Center in Missouri. After assessing the damage, they determined that the precast concrete was the most resilient component of the original structure. As plans began on the new hospital, the architect, HKS Inc., specified precast concrete not only for its durability, but also for its aesthetic capabilities.
