Precast Concrete Pump Stations

Western Monmouth Utilities AuthorityWestern Monmouth Utilities Authority (WMUA) in Manalapan, N.J., recently upgraded pump stations to improve safety, efficiency and aesthetics. With over 30 pump stations in operation, WMUA began with five pump stations with the most safety issues and outdated equipment. Easi-Set Buildings were specified in the design for their ease and speed of installation as well as the aesthetic possibilities. Oldcastle Precast, an Easi-Set Buildings' licensed producer, utilized single-use HIPS formliners from Architectural Polymers to create a facade that mimics siding and cultured stone. WMUA selected 6" Shiplap and Large Stone Drystack textures to blend with the residential neighborhoods where most pump stations are located.

Beyond the aesthetic capabilities, precast concrete was selected for low maintenance, superior durability, and ease of installation. While precast concrete panels were poured and prepped off-site, underground construction along with plumbing, electrical and piping was completed on-site. Once assembled in the factory, the Easi-Set Buildings were installed in one day, saving significant time and budget. All five buildings were completed two months ahead of schedule and plans have started for more pump station renovations.
